Poetry Parkour Workshop at Melbourne Uni
Breaking the Boundaries of Traditional Poetry
One of our signature creative experiences, the Poetry Parkour Workshop at Melbourne University, brought a fresh and exciting twist to the world of poetry. Our goal was simple: to break poetry free from the confines of paper and ink, and give it new life in Melbourne’s vibrant urban spaces.
In this dynamic workshop, participants explored the intersection of poetry and performance, engaging in hands-on writing exercises before going on a poetry scavenger hunt to stick their poems up in Hosier Lane, one of Melbourne’s most famous laneways for street art. The event combined creativity with community, and offered participants the opportunity to see their words physically come to life in one of the city’s most iconic public spaces.
Why It Worked:
Merged creative writing with street art, making poetry interactive and public.
Took participants out of the classroom and into the world, engaging them with the city’s cultural fabric.
Showcased our ability to blend creativity with community engagement in a meaningful way.
The Poetry Parkour Workshop is just one example of how we can take art beyond conventional spaces, merging writing, performance, and urban culture to create something truly impactful.
